Une plongée dans l'inconnu avec avec des éléments déjà existants : c'est le paradoxe soulevé par Austin Wintory quand il évoque la bande-originale de The Banner Saga 2 d'autant plus que c'est la première fois qu'il compose pour une suite — et seul ce jeu vidéo a eu le droit à ce traitement de faveur. Pas de quoi avoir peur : elle est autant réussie que la première sinon plus. La pression est constante ("Under the Black Banner", "Threads Unweave"...) et les chants guerriers sont ensorcelants. Dans la bande-originale du film Mercury Plains, Austin Wintory et Tom Strahle se retrouvent une fois de plus et, comme souvent quand ce dernier est de la partie, inutile de faire appel à un orchestre symphonique : sa seule performance avec les instruments à cordes pincées suffit à créer une ambiance mexicaine oppressante (surtout sur des pistes comme "There Aren't Any Jobs", "Juarez" ou "Desert Walk") qu'Austin Wintory complète avec du dark ambiant ou de la noise. Elle prend bien aux tripes ! Jordan Vauvert
